Ithaca Parlor Meeting = Great Discussion

Judy Warner shares her work with 18 SAQA New York members in a parlor meeting hosted by Aafke Steenhuis in Ithaca, New York today. After a round of show and tell, and filling lunch and dessert (thanks, again, Aafke) we had a great discussion on topics from "What do you call yourself?" to "Name some events you would like SAQA NY to organize."

Organized by Jeanne Simpson and Pat Pauly, the meeting offered a chance to connect to other artists and garner how the medium of art quilts differs and compares to other fields of art. It was a great day. Above, Marcia DeCamp is hidden behind her "Icicles" work.

Parlor meeting

The Hudson Valley and Upstate region of SAQA NY will be having our first parlor meeting on October 23, 2010 at the Greenville Arms 1889 Inn, http://www.greenvillearms.com/ in Greenville, NY from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. Kim LaPolla, the inn’s owner, has generously opened her doors for our meeting. Here’s how to get there: http://www.greenvillearms.com/greenville-arms-directions.html

Please bring some pieces for show and tell so we can all share in what everyone’s working on. There will be coffee, tea and light refreshments provided.

What I'd like everyone to think about between now and October 23rd is how we're going to proceed from here. Where will we hold future meetings? How often? Will we have set agendas or just keep it loose? This is our region; let's do things our own way.

Thanks and I hope to see everyone on the 23rd!!
